How to Create 36 Outfits From An 18 Piece Spring Capsule

A season change always has me wanting to refresh my wardrobe. I would typically buy some of the latest trends or just pick some random pieces that catch my eye, but this year I want to be more intentional about the pieces I’m bringing into my closet. Some things I love for spring include: layering pieces(for the wide range of temps in even a single day), white (jeans, tops, sneakers), floral prints in moderation, and feminine details.

I have been wanting to create and a capsule wardrobe for a long time, so after shopping my closet and doing some browsing I put together a 18 piece spring capsule. If you aren’t familiar with the term “capsule wardrobe” it is a small curated collection (usually 20-30ish pieces per season) that can be easily mixed and matched to create outfits. The purpose of having a capsule is to be more intentional about the pieces you purchase. This will save you time when getting dressed in the morning and money by not spending as much on clothing.

My capsule is definitely on the casual side, so if you typically wear more dressy items you might want to change a few a pieces. I love that you can create a capsule to fit your lifestyle and budget.

Here are the steps I took when creating my capsule:

  • Shop your closet and choose items you would like to include in the capsule (this would also be a great time to purge some pieces you no longer plan to wear)
  • Pinspiration: when I am looking for inspiration on pretty much anything I always turn to Pinterest! Make a board of outfit ideas for the season of capsule you are making
  • Choose a color scheme
  • Make a list of what you need
  • Start shopping! Be intentional about what you are buying and choose pieces that coordinate

Here is the capsule I created along with 36 outfits ideas! I hope this inspires you to create you own capsule!
